Nomascus sp. cf. nasutus

Fully developed male vocalisations consist of two different types of notes typically uttered in alternation: a very brief series of short simple staccato notes ("aa"), and a series of highly frequency modulated (but not multi-modulated) notes. Each note of the modulated figure is of ascending frequency only. Females produce great calls only. Great call with an acceleration-type climax, like H. moloch, of moderate speed, not becoming slower near end. Great call consisting of 10 or less notes. All notes except the first two or three are twitter-like with rapid up-and-down frequency modulations (vibrato). Male produces modulated phrase as coda. Duet song bouts.
